Electronics Engineer

Columbus Instruments is searching for a creative and organized engineer who will design, prototype, and test electronic instruments and firmware, both as standard products and with custom features, for instrumentation used for life science, metabolic and environmental research.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

·       Involved in assessment of product requirements, electrical schematicdesign, hardware selection and validation, PCB design, firmware development andproduct testing and approval.

·       Use software to perform circuit analysis, run simulations, create     schematic drawings, and create PCBs.

·       Collaborate with engineers, other professionals, as well as clients toensure projects are completed to specifications.

·       Developing effective maintenance, testing and quality control procedures.

·       Observing existing processes and making recommendations for improvement.

·       Showing initiative and keeping up with advancements in Electronics.

·       Other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS& ABILITIES:

·       Prior experienceand knowledge in electronic design.

·       Prior experienceand knowledge in firmware development.

·       Basicunderstanding of digital circuit design and analysis.

·       Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

·       Strong analytical skills.

 

REQUIRED JOBQUALIFICATIONS:

·       Bachelor’s inElectrical Engineering, similar discipline, or equivalent experience.

·       4 to 10 years ofrelevant professional experience required.

·       Experience withPCB layout and electrical schematic drawings.

·       Industrial designand/or firmware coding and testing experience.

·       Exposure totroubleshooting electronics, sensors, and sensor systems a plus.

Software Engineer

Join Columbus Instruments dynamic team to spearhead the research, design, and development of cutting-edge computer software systems tailored for instrumentation supporting life science, metabolic, and environmental research. You’ll engage in hands-on work with the equipment, witnessing firsthand the impact of your contributions. This role offers flexibility with options for both in-office and hybrid work arrangements, with Mondays designated for in-office.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

·       Consults withhardware engineers and other engineering staff to evaluate interface betweenhardware and software, and operational and performance requirements of overallsystem.

·       Modify existingsoftware to correct errors, allow it to adapt to new hardware, or to improveits performance.

·       Develops and directssoftware system testing procedures, programming and documentation.

·       Store, retrieveand manipulate data for analysis of system capabilities and requirements.

REQUIRED JOBQUALIFICATIONS:

·       3+ years’experience in software development.

·       Experiencedeveloping/designing desktop software (C#/.NET preferred).

·       Experience withdesigning user interfaces (WPF/XAML preferred).

·       Working knowledgeof embedded systems / hardware preferred.

·       Excellent workingknowledge of Windows, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
