Shipping & Receiving Agent
The Shipping & Receiving Agent is responsible for the flow of raw materials and finished goods throughout our facility. This role supports production operations by receiving and organizing incoming materials, fulfilling internal material requests, coordinating outbound shipments, and sourcing freight quotes to support the sales and supply chain teams.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Shipping & Receiving Agent is responsible for the flow of raw materials and finished goods throughout our facility. This role supports production operations by receiving and organizing incoming materials, fulfilling internal material requests, coordinating outbound shipments, and sourcing freight quotes to support the sales and supply chain teams.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Receive, inspect, and log incoming raw material shipments; verify accuracy against purchase orders and report discrepancies
- Pull and stage raw materials for production based on work orders and internal requests
- Coordinate outbound shipments including packing, labeling, and preparation of shipping documentation
- Solicit and compare freight quotes from carriers to advise the sales team on accurate shipping cost estimates
- Maintain an organized and accurate inventory of materials in the shipping and receiving area(s)
- Communicate proactively with purchasing and supply chain teams regarding shipment status, delays, or discrepancies
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Familiarity with freight carriers, shipping software, and logistics processes; international shipping experience a plus
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks through to completion with minimal active supervision
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments
- Basic computer proficiency including experience with ERP or WMS systems
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience in a shipping, receiving or warehouse role preferred
- Experience with freight quoting and carrier coordination is a plus
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
